Abstract

The aim was to improve the quality of surgical treatment of patients with nodular goiter. From 2005 to 2015 109 videoendoscopic interventions for nodal forms of goiter have been performed. Nodes were benign, or follicular neoplasias have been detected. We have used two methods of surgery. Duration of surgery was 79 ± 12 min in Group I, and 52 ± 10 min - in Group II. In Group II a single case of hypoparathyroidism has been detected, while in Group I the transient hypoparathyroidism have been observed in 10 patients (9.2%). Damage of recurrent nerve has been observed in 3 cases (2.8%) in Group I. In Group II, nerve damage has not been observed (p<0,05). Average hospital stay was 2,0 ± 0,5 days.
