Rationale for changing power of endovenous laser coagulation in treatment of varicose veins of the lower limbs associated with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia

Abstract

In carrying endovenous laser coagulation in 95 patients with varicose veins of the lower extremities in 9 (9,47 %) patients showed clinical changes characteristic of excessive laser radiation in standard mode power – dense painful cord over the course of coagulated veins longer pain, paresthesia and ecchymosis. Additional examination diagnosed in those patients manifestations of undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia that cause a pathological effect of laser irradiation upon the wall of the vein and surrounding tissues. Further treatment of patients with signs of connective tissue dysplasia in 22 (23,16 %) performed with reduced laser power. According to the clinical and morphological studies it was confirmed optimally selected power level that provides effective treatment and a minimum number of complications.
