Abstract

This is a study of the distribution of the VDR gene variant alleles in children with the vitamin D-deficient rickets, and the analysing of influence of this gen genotype polymorphism on course and severity of the disease. This research indicated that the presence of the G allele in homo or heterozygous states (G/G + А/G) in individuals suffering from D-deficient rickets increases the risk of the disease for infants in Ukrainian population. This study probably confirms the role of genetic factors, particularly, polymorphism of the VDR gene for vitamin D-deficient rickets development.
